Systems Analyst

The System Analyst position will provide expert technical strategic analysis and advice on applications, technology and architecture.

This position will provide the organisational enterprise level view of technology direction, and Subject Matter Expertise to assist Victoria Police Information Communication Technology (ICT) to resolve functional application issues.

The role will be accountable for providing local domain input into the development of appropriate solutions for future ICT developments. Experience in, and knowledge of, Victoria Police technical domain and operational systems will be regarded favourably.

The position will report to Stell Michael, Group Manager, Technology Planning, ICT Strategic Planning Division.

Position Details

Your duties will include to:

  • Providing timely and domain expertise on a number of applications to assist Information Systems Security Command (ISSC) clients to resolve technical, business process and user issues.
  • Using your contemporary environmental knowledge to provide input into requests for system enhancements or improvements whilst working in collaboration with business analysts, architects, information management, ICT Service Delivery technical staff, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Contributing to briefings and make recommendations on functional and technical options in response to any issues raised pertaining to applications for consideration by senior managers. 
  • Participating in the development and delivery of application and process support educational, training and organisational change materials for Victoria Police ICT customers.
  • Providing application and functional Domain Expert advice into Technology Planning solutions for initiatives and approved projects.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Extensive experience and knowledge in providing operational and technical advice on a range of applications, including web based service delivery and databases, and provide technical and functional impact assessments of ICT initiatives and projects.
  • Experience in, and knowledge of, Victoria Police technical domain and operations systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in data quality management techniques, including the ability to conduct audits, research, identify and resolve data integrity issues.
  • Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills, including a demonstrated ability to contribute effectively in problem solving.
  • Highly developed report writing skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver timely reports, briefing papers and presentations to key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to self-manage and prioritise multiple tasks, work successfully independently and in a team environment, liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and consistently achieve outcomes within strict timelines.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Working within the ICT Strategic Planning Division, located at the Victoria Police Centre, 637 Flinders Street, Docklands, 3008. This will be the usual place of work; however you may be required to work at any other division within the Command as required.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • One (1) full time, ongoing position available.
  • VPSG5 salary range $96,942 - $117,293 p.a + super + leave loading.
