About the role:

The Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET) sits within Victoria Police's Crime Command and provides Victoria Police with a specialist crime investigation capability relating to all facets of child exploitation. JACET maintain current up to date expertise in modern trends, technologies and advances in this work theme. The JACET's local area is the online world.   Therefore it is not confined by geographical boundaries. Investigators often liaise with their counterparts interstate and overseas through liaison officers and where overseas offenders are identified, they refer their details to overseas LEAs for attention.

Your duties will include:

  • Administer and support the Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team's network infrastructure, including router and switch configuration, firewall configuration and management and implementation of network and service monitoring systems.
  • Contribute towards the design, development, implementation and maintenance of key infrastructure services and solutions and contribute towards the development of strategic plans for network growth.
  • Ensure the successful implementation, upgrading and installation of application software and associated components and review, evaluate and test new software proposals to ensure compatibility & integration with existing systems infrastructure.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to members of Victoria Police regarding investigations involving computer networks.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of network technology trends and advances.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary or industry qualification in an information systems discipline or comparable work experience in administration and security of compter networks
  • Highly developed knowledge of information, telecommunications and networking systems, including information and network security.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the operation, maintenance and administration of computer networks, hardware and operating systems of small and large system environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, on technical issues to both expert and non-expert audiences., including experience in research and report writing
  • Ability to work both within a team environment and independently while possessing superior analytical and problem solving ability.
  • Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction, and constructively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for the stakeholder and the Command.
  • A proven record of ethical behaviour

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Applicants successful through the interview stage will be required to undergo PAI Psychometric testing and a subsequent interview with the police psychologist.
  • The successful applicant's usual place of work will be within the Finance and Cyber Crime Division, Crime Command, however they may be required to work at any other division within Crime Command as required.
  • The successful applicant may be required to work Rostered Hours, Shift work and some Public Holidays and Weekends. 
  • The successful applicant will be required to possess a current Victorian Driver Licence and hold or qualify for a White Class Driver Authority within three (3) months.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.  To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.

Applicants should be aware that due to the nature of the work that the Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team undertakes, the successful applicant will be exposed to images, videos and written materials of a disturbing/offensive nature.
