Position Details

Victoria Police is currently advertising one (1), full-time, fixed term, VPS-2 position within Southern Metro Region. As the successful applicant, you will provide administrative support within an existing team. Your primary role will be as an Administration/Property Officer within Southern Metro Division Three with initial duties at the Dandenong Police Station, based in the Divisional Event Planning Office (DEPO).

The DEPO is the central facility for the completion and coordination of all staff (sworn and VPS) rostering including leave, duty rosters, events, and operation deployments in Southern Metro Division Three. This includes any contribution to region, division, police service area or local response zone duty and event commitments.

The DEPO is also responsible for online course compliance and booking of internal/external courses. The preferred applicant will also be expected to assist with other general administration tasks for the SD3 Tasking & Coordination unit.

Your duties will include:

  • Compilation of fortnightly rosters each with specific requirements, strict time frames and complex issues to resolve.
  • Perform a variety of computerized activities including data entry, typing and word processing.
  • Administrative duties relating to operational rosters, mandatory training courses and leave rostering.
  • Attend enquiries from internal and external stakeholders, provide initial information and advice as required.
  • Receive, record and distribute mail and correspondence as required.
  • Prepare routine correspondence on a range of administrative matters and attend to follow-up procedures as required.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Ability for strategic and creative thinking.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure with late notice events and resourcing issues.
  • Self-manage responsibility of allocated portfolio and be accountable.
  • Experience in working with computers and systems to perform a range of administrative tasks including, records management, data entry and word processing tasks.
  • Must have the ability to accurately maintain systematic and administrative records.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work successfully within a team environment and ability to work independently.
  • Prioritisation skills and ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Be adaptable to change.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) Full-time, Fixed Term position available, current until close of business Friday 17th February 2023.
  • Your usual place of work will be at the SD3 Divisional Event Planning Office (DEPO) located at 50 Langhorne Street, Dandenong, VIC, 3175. However, you may be required to work at any location within Southern Division Three as required.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with the Acting Chief Health Officer's Direction – COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination (Workers) Directions, you are required to be fully vaccinated (this includes a booster vaccination) and your employment with Victoria Police is subject to proof of vaccination.
