Position Details

  • VPS2 – Administrative/Property Officer $51,717 - $59,066 plus superannuation and leave loading (PRO RATA for Part Time $25,858.50 - $29,533)
  • One Ongoing Part Time opportunity for 38 hours fortnight (5 days a fortnight)
  • The usual place of work will be Horsham Police Station, 20 Roberts Ave, Horsham. However you may also be required to work at other locations within the PSA WD4 Tasking & Coordination.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Undertake a range of administrative functions including the maintenance and management of various records and registers (manual and computerised) within a Region/Department/Command.
  • Administer and be accountable for the Station and Command lost and confiscated property office, the supply of logistics and equipment, along with the logging of logistics/property and equipment faults, consistent with service delivery priorities.
  • Prepare a wide range of routine correspondence, financial, personnel, statistical and other various types of transactions and ensure appropriate follow-up action is taken when required.
  • Attend to telephone and counter enquiries from both internal and external key stakeholders.
  • Undertake courier and other distribution/transportation functions as required.
  • May be required to attend court to provide continuity of the processes.

Selection Criteria

Essential Requirements:

  1. Ability to maintain systematic and accurate administrative records in a confidential environment.
  2. Proven administrative experience particularly in relation to word processing, data entry and preparing statistical reports. 
  3. Well-developed written and oral communication skills with the ability to deal effectively with both internal and external key stakeholders.  
  4. Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and operate under supervision while meeting strict deadlines.
  5. Ability to work within a team environment.
  6. An understanding of the customer service requirements of the position and a demonstrated record of strong commitment and achievement in meeting customer needs.
  7. A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct, Financial Code of Practice, and the Organisational Values.

Special Requirements

  • The successful candidate may be required to undergo and successfully obtain and maintain a National Security Clearance to the level determined by the Department Head. To obtain this clearance applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • For positions within Crime Command the successful candidate must be prepared to undergo and successfully obtain and maintain a National Security Clearance to the level determined by the Department Head. To obtain this clearance applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The incumbent will be required to complete the OHS requirements of the organisation, which may include local level training relating to equipment usage and Hazardous Chemicals. 
  • The incumbent will be required to work Rostered Hours, Shift work and some Public Holidays and Weekends. Shift allowances will be paid in accordance with the relevant Victorian Public Service Agreement.  (Applicable to the Spencer Street Property Centre). 
  • Successful candidates will be required to possess a current Victorian Driver Licence and hold or qualify for an appropriate Victoria Police driving authority within three (3) months.

  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • While this position will have a nominated usual place of work, the position may be required to work at other locations, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant Victorian Public Service Agreement.

  • The preferred candidate will be required to undergo security checks which will include fingerprint checks.
  • The successful candidate will be employed pursuant to Victoria Police policies and procedures along with the relevant Victorian Public Service Agreement.
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete the appropriate Declarable Association Acknowledgement Form/s.
  • External applicants will be subject to a probation period of three (3) months.
  • This position may require the incumbent to undertake physical activities (such as accessing files from a compactus).
