Forensic Caseworker - (Biometrics IT Process Improvement Lead)
FO-3 Fixed term role to 30.06.2027 available.
About the Unit:
Laboratory Operations Biometric Services (LOBS): The primary functions of LOBS are the recovery and identification of fingerprint and biological evidence from casework and the maintenance and administration of known fingerprint and DNA samples in accordance with Section 464 of the Victorian Crimes Act 1958. Evidence from crime scenes and samples from unknown persons are examined to recover and identify fingerprint and biological evidence and link persons of interest to casework.
About the Role
Develop IT enabled workflow improvements to achieve casework processing efficiencies across the Fingerprint Sciences Group (FSG) and Biological Sciences Group (BSG).
As the successful applicant, some of your duties will include:
- Review existing workflows in consultation with BSG and FSG caseworkers to identify opportunities for IT enabled solutions to achieve workflow efficiencies.
- Utilise the suite of IT tools available to Victoria Police to develop IT enabled workflow solutions.
- Engage with Manager Data Analytics VPFSD and the Digital and Security Services Department (DSSD) as required in the development of these IT enabled workflow solutions.
- Work with other areas in the VPFSD to identify opportunities to share the developed IT enabled workflow solutions.
- Supervise, mentor and train colleagues in line with professional development programs.
- Supervise and/or engage in innovation and research projects.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of BSG and FSG casework processes.
Requirements and relevant information:
- A relevant tertiary qualification is required.
- Fixed Term (to 30.06.2027) Forensic Officer level 3 position available
- Position is located at 31 Forensic Drive Macleod.
- The successful candidate will be required to provide a DNA sample (buccal swab) for use in laboratory quality control procedures (elimination purposes only).
- The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
- Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
