Activities Officer - TC2



Albury Wodonga Health – Blackwood Cottage requires a casual Activities Officer to join our Older Persons Mental Health Team.


Primary responsibilities of this role;

  • Develop and delivery organize, maintain and carry out a program of individual and group activities for the residents that enable their social, recreational and educational needs to be met, both within the individual homes and as a group across the residential homes.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate the Activity Program in liaison with the Nurse Unit Manager and collaboration with other staff, volunteers, residents and their carers.
  • Undertake the initial and ongoing assessments, documentation, care planning and review of all residents in collaboration with the other program staff.

Candidates meeting the following mandatory criteria are encouraged to apply:

  • Bachelor, Diploma or Certificate of Diversional Therapy or equivalent
  • Prior experience with adults with cognitive impairment and their carers
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current Food Safety/Handling Certificate
  • Demonstrated competence in working with people with dementia
  • Current and valid driver's licence
  • Computer literacy skills using Microsoft applications


Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Victorian psychiatric services agreement.


Successful applicants will be required to complete appropriate Criminal Record Screening paperwork/processes in order for AWH to meet its obligations regarding screening for serious criminal offences (within and external to Australia).  Applicants unable to commit to this screening process should not submit an application for employment.


Successful applicants will be required to complete mandatory orientation modules using the AWH e-learning system prior to commencing employment.


This is a Category A position.  Successful applicants of Category A positions must provide evidence of vaccination prior to commencement.
