Nurse Unit Manager (NUM1)

Recovery/Anaesthetics Theatre

Permanent Full-time Position

1.0 EFT


Applications are invited from dynamic registered nurses with extensive clinical experience and leadership for Recovery & Anaesthetics and be based at our Albury Campus.


The successful applicant will provide strong clinical support & leadership daily to the recovery unit. Major components of the position include working in conjunction daily with the NUM 1 Floor to provide safe and effective care throughout the operating suite, workforce management & rostering, working in conjunction with the Nurse Manager in the development and maintenance of care standards, oversight to the Acute Pain Service, investigation & management of clinical risk, and reporting KPI's across campus.


The Nurse Unit Manager will be required to have excellent communication & time management skills. The position is ideally suited to someone with a commitment to the high level of care for patients journeying through the Recovery Unit.


Core Selection Criteria we are looking for are:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Post graduate diploma or certificate in Perioperative-Anaesthetics/Recovery or Critical Care.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and skill in the perioperative area.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team structure in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Computer Literacy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to, understanding and knowledge of:

Quality improvement with the ability to develop and implement initiatives of continuous Quality improvement within the designated area of work.

Staff development and Practice Development Principles.

Research to inform Evidence Based Best Practice.


Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the NSW Nurses Association Award (Public).


Successful applicants will be required to complete appropriate Criminal Record Screening paperwork/processes in order for AWH to meet its obligations regarding screening for serious criminal offences (within and external to Australia).  Applicants unable to commit to this screening process should not submit an application for employment.
