Kerferd Nurse Unit Manager

Registered Nurse/Permanent

 

Albury Wodonga Health – Wangaratta Campus requires a Nurse Unit Manager to join our Kerferd Unit Team. The position is to provide operational management, leadership and clinical direction to the Acute Inpatient staff ensuring best practice in high quality consumer focussed service delivery.

 

Primary responsibilities of this role:

  • Manage the provision of psychiatric nursing services in the unit to enable the effective utilisation of available resources to achieve the unit and facility objectives.
  • Provide the highest level of ‘hands on' clinical practice and advice and participate in delivery of care.
  • Participate in the development of psychiatric nursing policy and procedures relating to the unit and the facility as a whole.
  • Manage the provision of nursing and non-nursing services to the unit.
  • Co-ordinate the provision of mental health professional services to the clients.
  • Maintain standards of professional psychiatric nursing care and promote the training and professional development of all nursing staff on the unit.
  • Ensure the relevant provisions of the Mental Health Act are followed.
  • Monitor and evaluate unit program activities and outcomes and report as required to the Operations Director on progress towards objectives, resourcing difficulties, staff training requirements and emerging clinical issues. Develop and manage change as appropriate. 
  • Supervise maintenance of client records by ensuring unit staff complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Ensure that staffing rosters and staff deployment are organised to achieve effective program delivery and efficient use of staff resources.

Candidates meeting the following mandatory criteria are encouraged to apply:

  • Qualifications and experience as a Mental Health Nurse and appropriate registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Post graduate nursing or management qualifications or preparedness to undertake appropriate further studies.

 

Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the 2016-2020 Victorian Public Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement.

 

Successful applicants will be required to complete appropriate Criminal Record Screening paperwork/processes in order for AWH to meet its obligations regarding screening for serious criminal offences (within and external to Australia).  Applicants unable to commit to this screening process should not submit an application for employment.

 

Successful applicants will be required to complete mandatory orientation modules using the AWH e-learning system prior to commencing employment.

 

This is a Category A position.  Successful applicants of Category A positions must provide evidence of vaccination prior to commencement.
