Clinical Nurse Educator

Perioperative Services

Permanent Part time Position

0.7 FTE

 

Applications are invited from dynamic registered nurses with extensive clinical and education experience for the role of Clinical Nurse Educator, Perioperative Services. This is a cross campus role.

 

The successful applicant will provide professional practice and clinical support to the Cardiac Catheterisation Lab, Day Surgeries (Albury & Wodonga), & support the existing education team with the perioperative suites. The position includes supporting the Nurse Unit Managers in the development and maintenance of care standards by providing strong leadership with an education focus.

 

The successful applicant will be required to support the transition of new graduates, undergraduate and other nursing staff to the clinical environment through action learning in the clinical setting. They will assist staff to achieve mandatory training requirements, clinical competencies and enhance skills and knowledge through a range of educational strategies. Excellent time management skills are essential.

 

The position is ideally suited to someone with a commitment to the professional development of clinicians and the translation of evidence based practice to high quality, person centred care. 

 

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Tertiary qualification in Education and/or Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (or willingness to work towards).
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and skill in the Day Surgery & Cardiac Catheterisation Lab area.
  • Demonstrated education skills with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team structure in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Computer Literacy
  • Demonstrated commitment to, understanding and knowledge of:

- the ability to develop and implement initiatives of continuous Quality improvement within the designated area of work.

- professional development and practice development principles.

- applying education strategies to mitigate risk

- research to inform Evidence Based Best Practice.

 

Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the NSW Nurses Association Award (Public).

 

The successful applicant will be required to complete appropriate Criminal Record Screening paperwork/processes in order for AWH to meet its obligations regarding screening for serious criminal offences (within and external to Australia).  Applicants unable to commit to this screening process should not submit an application for employment.
