Violence Abuse & Neglect Counsellor – Grade 2/3

Permanent, Part Time- 0.4EFT

 

Albury Wodonga Health – Albury Community Health requires an experienced Trauma Counsellor (Social work, Psychology or OT) to join our Violence, Abuse and Neglect (VAN) Counselling team.  This position will provide specialist Counselling service to patients, clients, consumers and their family/carers to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes. 

 

The successful candidate will provides the above service to children, young people and adults who have been sexually assaulted and adults who have experienced violence throughout their life. Interventions include crisis intervention, counselling, court support, psycho-education, group work and support to non-offending family members, carers and significant others.

 

Primary responsibilities of this role;

  • Provide high quality intervention to children, adolescent and adult victims of trauma and non-offending parents/carers (such as sexual abuse, domestic/intimate violence, and problematic sexualised behaviours under 10years); provide crisis counselling, psycho-educational support, systems support and group work.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, families, FCS, Police, DPP and other non-government agencies in a consultative and respectful manner.
  • Provide high quality comprehensive triage and intake assessment and prioritise in accordance with program and NSW guidelines.
  • Work effectively as a member of team.
  • Participate in on-call service if required, and perform other duties as requested by the line manager.

Candidates meeting the following mandatory criteria are encouraged to apply:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work with eligibility for membership for full registration with AASW or a Psychologist Degree with membership to AHPRA, (or eligible), or Occupational Therapist (with post graduate skill or training in child and family counselling).
  • Extensive direct clinical experience conducting crisis interventions, counselling, group work and complex case management for people who have experienced trauma (eg. child/adult sexual assault, family and People who have experienced violence). A minimum of 3 years relevant experience post-graduation.
  • A willingness to engage in mandatory specialist training.

     

Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award (Level Dependant on qualifications) Health and Community Employees Psychologists (State) Award 

 

Successful applicants will be required to complete appropriate Criminal Record Screening paperwork/processes in order for AWH to meet its obligations regarding screening for serious criminal offences (within and external to Australia).  Applicants unable to commit to this screening process should not submit an application for employment.

 

Successful applicants will be required to complete mandatory orientation modules using the AWH e-learning system prior to commencing employment.

 

This is a Category A position.  Successful applicants of Category A positions must provide evidence of vaccination prior to commencement.
