Graduate Nurse and Undergraduate Programs Coordinator (Mental Health) – RPN4

0.6 FTE

Albury Wodonga Health is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Educator to join our professional development team to coordinate the graduate nurse and undergraduate programs. This position is an opportunity to lead the delivery of the Graduate Mental Health nurse-training program in a diverse cross border service system. In addition, the position will contribute to the revision of the mental health professional competency framework.

The Graduate Nurse and Undergraduate Programs Coordinator (Mental Health) leads the implementation and evaluation of the mental health graduate nurse program and undergraduate clinical placements at AWH and utilises advanced clinical mental health nursing knowledge and skills to influence quality of care and patient outcomes across the service.

This is a 0.6FTE permanent part time position commencing in March 2019

Primary responsibilities of this role are to utilise a variety of education and professional development strategies to;

  • Coordinate and implement the Mental Health Nurse Graduate Nurse Program according to the NEVIL Mental Health Nurse Graduate Program policy and guidelines, across multiple service sites as identified / required, and
  • Establish student placement objectives, supervisory guidelines and allocation of staff resources to the task of student supervision
  • Promote evidence based best practice in mental health nursing and contribute to quality improvement and research activities
  • Implement strategies to promote a positive learning environment meeting requirements as set out in the Best Practice Clinical Learning Environment Framework

Candidates meeting the following mandatory criteria are encouraged to apply:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse.
  • Post graduate qualifications in mental health nursing, with at least 5 years experience      in clinical mental health nurse practice
  • Post graduate education qualification and/or Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of the principles of the Victorian Mental Health Act 2014
  • Demonstrated recent and relevant experience in the development, coordination, and implementation of education programs utilising a range of learning modalities.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence based practice and translation to practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to network and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in information and communication technologies.
  • Current driver's licence.

 Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Victorian Public Sector Mental Health Enterprise Agreement.

Successful applicants will be required to complete appropriate Criminal Record Screening paperwork/processes in order for AWH to meet its obligations regarding screening for serious criminal offences (within and external to Australia).  Applicants unable to commit to this screening process should not submit an application for employment.

Successful applicants will be required to complete mandatory orientation modules using the AWH e-learning system prior to commencing employment.


This is a Category A position.  Successful applicants of Category A positions must provide evidence of vaccination prior to commencement.
