Nurse Practitioner (Candidate) – Clinical Nurse Specialist

32 hours per week/Permanent position


Albury Wodonga Health requires a Nurse Practitioner (Candidate) to join our Continuing Care Stream. The successful applicant will be supported to undertake their Nurse Practitioner Candidature, specialising in the care of older people. The position, based in our community based Continuing Care stream, works across the admitted and non-admitted services of AWH to provide advice, specialist assessment, support care planning and client centred care for older people.

The primary responsibilities of the role are to:

  • Provide evidence informed clinical support and leadership across the area of professional practice.
  • Undertake appropriate clinical assessment, intervention and management of patients      within a defined scope of practice.
  • Participate in and undertake clinical research.
  • Provide education  programs / materials for healthcare professionals, patients and their carers.
  • Work in collaboration with the medical team, and facilitate medical referral as      required.

Candidates meeting the following mandatory criteria are encouraged to apply:

  • Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA) as a RN.
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 5 years full time equivalent (FTE) clinical experience as a RN of which at least three years FTE is in a relevant speciality area in an advanced practice role.
  • Tertiary qualifications at a Masters Level (or working towards same).

Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Nurse and Midwives Enterprise Agreement 2016-2020.

Successful applicants will be required to complete appropriate Criminal Record Screening paperwork/processes in order for AWH to meet its obligations regarding screening for serious criminal offences (within and external to Australia).  Applicants unable to commit to this screening process should not submit an application for employment.

Successful applicants will be required to complete mandatory orientation modules using the AWH e-learning system prior to commencing employment.


This is a Category A position.  Successful applicants of Category A positions must provide evidence of vaccination prior to commencement.
