Psychiatry Registrar

Full Time, Fixed Term Contract

Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) is the first cross border public health service in Australia, and operates under an agreement between New South Wales and Victorian governments to provide the largest regional health care services between Sydney and Melbourne. With more than 2000 staff, it supports an outer catchment population of 250,000 and covers the North-East of Victoria and Southern New South Wales.

North East Border Mental Health Service (NEBMHS) provides mental health care across the AWH network, including: Adult Community and Inpatient; Older Persons Community and Inpatient; Youth Early Intervention; Child and Adolescent Community; and Integrated Primary Mental Health.

Kerferd Unit is a 20-bed inpatient unit situated in Wangaratta which delivers psychiatric care to adults and older persons residing in the North East of Victoria. The Psychiatric Triage Service is also situated within Kerferd Unit. Admissions to Kerferd Unit occur through linkages with Community Mental Health services in Albury, Wodonga and Wangaratta.

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Registrar to provide a contemporary and innovative model of inpatient care. The successful applicant will work with a multidisciplinary team and offer clinical support to the Psychiatrist.

This is a full-time position.

Wangaratta is a vibrant rural city with road, rail and close air links to Melbourne and Sydney. Close by are the wine and gourmet food regions of Beechworth, Milawa, the King Valley and Rutherglen. A gateway to the Victorian ski-fields, Wangaratta also boasts the annual Jazz Festival and sporting facilities to rival those of capital cities.

NEBMHS is entering an exciting phase in its evolution, headed by a new and enthusiastic leadership team. If you have a strong commitment to providing high quality mental health care, an appropriate specialist qualification, and experience in Inpatient Psychiatry we would like to hear from you.

Closing date: 17th February 2019
