Albury Wodonga Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced educator and manager to lead the Clinical Education Unit. This position will lead an interdisciplinary team to deliver a contemporary clinical education strategy that promotes and supports staff capability and satisfaction, the provision of evidence based practice and person centred care. 


Primary responsibilities of this role are to utilise a variety of education and professional development strategies to;


  • Lead and manage the clinical education team to establish a learner centred and strategic approach to the planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical education across nursing, midwifery and allied health
  • Establish and maintain a strong customer service ethos which focuses on the delivery of key outcomes including AWH Strategic goals, Clinical Education Strategic, Business, Risk and Quality plans.
  • Ensure that the clinical education plan acknowledges and aligns with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards 
  • Actively lead the development of nursing, midwifery and allied health professional practice through the development, implementation and evaluation of Capability Frameworks and Scope of Practice Matrices.
  • Drive and engage key stakeholders in the implementation and evaluation of the Best Practice Clinical Learning Environment (BPCLE) Framework
  • Actively promote and lead the growth, implementation and evaluation of Undergraduate and Early Graduate programs in nursing, midwifery, allied health and mental health
  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of workforce strategies that promote the recruitment and retention of clinical staff including Transition to Practice Programs, Post Graduate programs and orientation/induction activities

Candidates meeting the following mandatory criteria are encouraged to apply:


  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with post graduate clinical qualification and extensive clinical experience.
  • Post graduate qualifications in Education and extensive education experience 
  • High level operational and management experience within the health care setting with demonstrated ability to translate strategy into educational outcomes
  • Proven team leadership skills and experience in change management processes
  • A broad knowledge of contemporary health workforce professional issues and a sound understanding of health systems, workforce training and future professional development trends.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills including negotiation, influencing and networking
  • Demonstrated application of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, particularly in relation to person and family centred care and patient safety. 
  • High level computer skills and demonstrated application of information technology systems and programs to communicate with and educate groups.


Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Victorian Public Sector Mental Health Enterprise Agreement.


Successful applicants will be required to complete appropriate Criminal Record Screening paperwork/processes in order for AWH to meet its obligations regarding screening for serious criminal offences (within and external to Australia).  Applicants unable to commit to this screening process should not submit an application for employment.


Successful applicants will be required to complete mandatory orientation modules using the AWH e-learning system prior to commencing employment.


This is a Category A position.  Successful applicants of Category A positions must provide evidence of vaccination prior to commencement.
