Perioperative Services

Maternity Leave Relief Position

0.4 EFT Part Time Fixed term


Applications are invited from dynamic registered nurses with extensive cardiac experience for the role of Maternity Leave Relief Cardiac Catherisation Nurse in the Cardiac Catheterisation Lab.


The successful applicant will provide clinical support to the Cardiac Catheterisation Lab during diagnostic cardiac catheterisation working with the team to provide the same service during interventional cardiac catheterisation. The Cardiac Nurse position includes working with the interventional cardiologist, medical imaging, day only and perioperative staff. Duties include but not limited to: scrub/scout, procedural monitoring required during cardiac catheterisation, IV cannulation, advanced ECG interpretation, defibrillation, monitoring/interpreting waveforms/pressures, intra-arterial monitoring, pre and post procedural care.


Key Selection Criteria:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and skill in cardiac services – ICU or Critical Care background would be advantageous.
  • Current Advanced Life Support certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team structure in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Computer Literacy
  • Demonstrated commitment to, understanding and knowledge of:

-the ability to develop and implement initiatives of continuous Quality improvement within the designated area of work.

-professional development and practice development principles.

-applying education strategies to mitigate risk

-research to inform Evidence Based Best Practice.


Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the NSW Nurses Association Award (Public).


The successful applicant will be required to complete appropriate Criminal Record Screening paperwork/processes in order for AWH to meet its obligations regarding screening for serious criminal offences (within and external to Australia).  Applicants unable to commit to this screening process should not submit an application for employment.
