Position Details

Graduate Nurse Program (Mental Health)

Fixed-Term Contract - 12 months / Part-time 64 hours per fortnight


Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) invites suitably qualified Registered Nurses wishing to pursue a career in Mental Health to apply for our 12 month Graduate Nurse Program in Mental Health.


Commencement date is February 2020.

You will be given the opportunity to gain mental health nursing experience within a supported clinical environment. The program promotes a variety of educational opportunities to graduates as they consolidate their theoretical and clinical skills. The structured program offers comprehensive orientation, professional development days and debriefing sessions. This is supported by the Mental Health Practise Development Unit, resource nurses and clinical nurse educators. Prior to the commencement of the mental health graduate program, candidates will be expected to enrol in an appropriate post graduate mental health nursing qualification. Assistance will be provided in selecting the most appropriate qualification from a list of higher education providers.


Successful applicants will work across the Albury and Wangaratta campuses gaining exposure to a variety of mental health clinical experiences in our acute inpatient units.


Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Victorian Public Mental Health Enterprise Bargaining Agreement 2016 - 2020.


Requirements for entry

Candidates must meet the following mandatory criteria to be eligible to apply:

  •     AHPRA registration prior to commencement
  •     Completion of the undergraduate course
  •     Not currently in a graduate program
  •     Registered with Computer Match


Entry to the Graduate Program (Mental Health) is via the Victorian Nursing Computer Match System. You must register online for a computer match account prior to submitting your preferences. To access these services, go to


  • The Computer Match process commences June 11th 2019, with the applicant entering their priority list online. Electronic applications for the mental health graduate program will be received by AWH between June 21st and July 19th, 2019.


Successful applicants will be required to complete appropriate Criminal Record Screening paperwork/processes in order for AWH to meet its obligations regarding screening for serious criminal offences (within and external to Australia).  Applicants unable to commit to this screening process should not submit an application for employment.


Successful applicants will be required to complete mandatory orientation modules using the AWH e-learning system prior to commencing employment.


This is a Category A position.  Successful applicants of Category A positions must provide evidence of vaccination prior to commencement.
