About the branch

The North-West District encompasses approximately 36% of the reserved land managed by Parks Victoria. The District manages a range of Parks and Reserves to conserve and protect the natural and cultural values, whilst providing appropriate visitor use.  The District focus is sound management based upon, and integrated with, a good understanding of and information about, the ecology of the Mallee and associated ecosystems. This will lead to appropriate management actions that conserve and protect the estate, whilst facilitating appropriate visitor access and use. Due to the large area, vegetation and climate, fire prevention and suppression is a key District focus.

About the role

As the Field Services Officer you will deliver in park services as directed by the Area of Work Manager to enable efficient and effective delivery at a local level in accordance with the District Action Plan. You will be accountable for the delivery of the on-ground works including, but not limited to, maintenance of assets, infrastructure, and facilities; and the field delivery of environmental projects.

Your responsibilities will include;

  • Maintaining and constructing a range of park facilities, including, signs, toilets, campgrounds, fences and walking tracks to Parks Victoria's standards and ensure they are presented in a clean and maintained condition.
  • Participate as a member of a works crew to ensure program objectives are met and that tasks are carried out effectively and efficiently and in a safe manner.
  • Assist in the delivery of fire preparedness, fire recovery and planned burning within the North West District and at other locations as required.

To be successful for this role you need to have practical skills or experience in areas such as agriculture, engineering, mechanical, maintenance or building would be an advantage.
