Maryborough District Health Service (MDHS) in Maryborough, Victoria is looking for enthusiastic and motivated midwives to join our acute services team. Your commitment to quality nursing and maternity care in a rural setting will make you perfect for this role.

This is your opportunity to join our team at the beginning of an exciting journey for the health service and our local community. The MoC was implemented in May 2022, following approval from the MDHS Board of Management and the completion of a formal industrial process.

At MDHS core staff midwives will work with and support our broader maternity services team. You will be rostered as part of the acute services ward roster and have the opportunity to work across both nursing and midwifery roles.

Our maternity services team is led by a consultant obstetrician and a Maternity Services Coordinator. We have two General Practice Obstetricians that work on a rotating roster. MDHS is geographically located approximately half way between the regional centres of Ballarat and Bendigo. We have excellent collaborative relationships with these higher level health services, which facilitate shared pregnancy care for higher risk women closer to home.

Maryborough really is the perfect location for any midwife wanting to work across the full scope of midwifery practice, with a varied patient load and fantastic opportunities for professional growth. Strong relationships with higher level regional services mean that you are able to maintain skills by continual exposure to higher acuity settings, while being based in a small, low risk service.

The rural location provides the perfect setting for down time away from work, and is easy commuting distance from regional centres and Melbourne.

Expressions of interest are sought for midwives wanting to join our existing acute services team and work on our Amherst ward as rostered core midwives .

Core midwife positions are offered at 0.4-1.0 FTE and will be rostered as part of the general acute roster and work across both areas.

We are looking for someone with the following qualities:

  • Embrace and promote the values of MDHS – Genuine, Respect, Excellence, Accountability & Togetherness
  • Excellent communication skills- both verbally and written
  • Woman-centred care, with excellent relationship building skills
  • Great organisational skills with particular respect to time management
  • Basic Life Support Certificate

What's in it for you?

  • Great Working Environment – Join a group of motivated health care professionals with a Permanent contract. Opportunity to join the Social Club, offering a wide range of social events and local retail discounts.
  • Fantastic Earning Potential – Generous Base Salary under the Nurses and Midwifes EBA with Salary Packaging available.
