Permanent Part Time - 2 positions – 56 hours per fortnight & 48 hours per fortnight

Maryborough District Health Service (MDHS) in Maryborough, Victoria is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated midwife to join our Midwifery Group Practice. Our MGP MoC has been developed by a Project Governance Committee including representation from Safer Care Victoria, Department of Health, the Australian Nursing & Midwifery Federation, local consumer representation and other local stakeholders. The MGP has been operational at MDHS for 18 months and is growing in booking numbers.
Our maternity services team is led by a consultant obstetrician and a Maternity Services Coordinator. We have four General Practice Obstetricians that work on a rotating roster. MDHS is geographically located approximately half way between the regional centres of Ballarat and Bendigo.
Maryborough really is the perfect location for any midwife wanting to work across the full scope of midwifery practice, with a varied caseload and fantastic opportunities for professional growth. Strong relationships with higher level regional services mean that you are able to maintain skills by continual exposure to higher acuity settings, while being based in a small, low risk service. MPG midwives will provide care for an allocated case load of women and will collaborate with other healthcare workers to provide care through the continuum of pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period.
The rural location provides the perfect setting for down time away from work, and is easy commuting distance from regional centres and Melbourne.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
There is a requirement to work on call as part of your roster to meet the care needs of women. MGP roles will be offered at 0.7 FTE as permanent ongoing positions.
0.6 FTE is to be worked in the MGP (with a proportional caseload)
0.1 FTE is to be worked in a rostered (above ratio) capacity at Ballarat Health Services

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Qualifications / Experience
- Current registration as a Registered Midwife with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
- Demonstrate that you meet the criteria for a Clinical Midwife Specialist.
- Current FSEP level 3 practitioner.
- Current Victorian Driving License.
- Evidence of recent neonatal resuscitation competency.
- Demonstrated application of professional and ethical boundaries to the delivery of evidence based, woman centred care with demonstrated capacity to interact with a multidisciplinary team in a personable and professional manner and resolve conflicts when they arise.
- Demonstrated commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and families and employees to enhance health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
- Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
Specialist Expertise
- Experience in team/caseload midwifery or recent experience in all areas of midwifery care, including but not limited to antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care in a hospital setting as well as in the community.
- Postgraduate advanced studies in midwifery (or working towards same, will be viewed favourably)
- Demonstrated clinical competence or working towards competence to perform the following:
- newborn examinations
- perineal suturing
- IV cannulation
- fetal scalp electrode placement
- speculum examination
Personal Qualities
- Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to manage time independently.
- Ability to operate in an environment of change.
