Occupational Therapist – Grade 2 – Wellness & Lifestyle Team

Permanent Part Time – 32 hours per fortnight  - To Commence ASAP

This is a great opportunity for a suitably qualified Occupational Therapist Grade 2 to join the team in Community Services at MDHS, working in a permanent position.  The Wellness and Lifestyle team is new and has been formed to support our residents and MDHS Residential Care Communities. Our model of care in Residential Communities is based on the Montessori approach, this approach is evidence based, supports the diverse needs of the individuals living in our care communities, and can aid in improving health outcomes such as improved psychological wellbeing, reduced agitation and improved engagement. The program provided by our Wellness and Lifestyle team was designed with residents at the centre and a focus on providing a multidisciplinary team who will work with the resident to determine what matters to them and their goals and develop a plan to aid in meeting those goals. The Wellness and Lifestyle team also aids in providing residents with continuity of care and providing care which is focused on wellness and the needs of the resident as an individual.  Work within a friendly, supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary team to enhance health outcomes for resients of our residential care community.

The Occupational Therapist is an integral member of this team and reports to the Director Aged Care. The position is part of a multi-disciplinary Allied Health Team, delivering services across the three MDHS campuses and surrounding catchment.  Apply now to be part of this exciting opportunity!

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualification to work as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Current Driver's Licence

 Technical/Professional Knowledge and skills

  • Knowledge and ability to conduct evidence based Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to achieve optimal resident outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or passion for service innovation and improvement.
  • Skills in evaluating program effectiveness for continual improvement.
  • Demonstrated evidence of commitment to ongoing education and professional development to ensure working within current scope of practice.
  • Understanding of and experience in providing client centred care in an aged setting or with clients who are elderly.
  • Commitment and practice that reflects client-centred and evidence-based practice.
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Capacity to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work with a range of consumers and key stakeholders including aged care residents, families and key stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership to assist teams to achieve their optimal efficiency and effectiveness
