About the role

As a Ranger the primary focus of your position is to plan for, and deliver, in park services as supported by the Ranger Team Leader to enable efficient and effective delivery at a district level in accordance with the Regional Action Plan. You will be offered training, learning and development opportunities to deliver a level of environmental and service expertise, as well as be supported by Parks Victoria to obtain any qualifications and tickets required to undertake specific tasks and roles.

You will be adaptable and flexible to on the ground service requirements in order to ensure superior park management services are achieved at all times. You may be required to work rostered weekends where you are remunerated through the payment of a Rostered Weekend Allowance (annual allowance of your substantive base salary).

We're looking for someone with:

  • Practical skills and experience in the maintenance and operation of small power equipment and tools for asset maintenance of park facilities, including, signs, fences and walking tracks
  • Experience in customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant level of knowledge of regulations and compliance procedures.
  • Certificate or Diploma in Natural Resource Management and/or equivalent experience in a similar field

Staff working within the Region are responsible for providing efficient and effective implementation of a broad range of often complex park management functions including natural, cultural and built asset management, visitor management and services, stakeholder management, park planning and emergency response.
