Position Details

We are seeking a full-time Senior Technical Advisor (or two part-time roles equivalent to a full-time role) to provide technical advice to plumbing practitioners about plumbing installation requirements under the Victorian regulations, codes and standards. This involves responding to a high volume of telephone inquiries on a daily basis and recording notes in the VBA's customer relationship management system. 

The Senior Technical Advisor will also provide written technical advice to the VBA, government and industry stakeholders and may assist in educating practitioners and consumers on technical plumbing matters.

Flexibility to travel and perform some work outside of normal business hours, may be required

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • knowledge and experience in plumbing design and/or installation practices with a plumbing, engineering or construction organisation (Eligibility for licence or registration for a class or classes of prescribed plumbing work under the Building Act 1993 (VIC), is desirable). 
  • good understanding and knowledge of the Victorian plumbing regulatory framework contained in the Building Act 1993 (VIC), Plumbing Regulations 2008 and the Plumbing Code of Australia, or, the capacity to quickly attain this knowledge.
  • very good verbal communication skills including the ability to respond to a high volume of telephone inquiries relating to technical plumbing matters on a daily basis.
  • strong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task and handle multiple demands whilst also working cooperatively within a team environment and under minimal supervision.

Salary Details

A base salary in the VPS Grade 5 range of $96,942 to $117,293 per annum (plus 9.5% super), will be negotiated with the successful candidate, depending on skills and experience.
