Department policy stipulates that salary upon commencement is paid at the base of the salary range for the relevant grade. Any above base requests require sign off by an executive delegate and will be by exception only or where required to match the current salary of Victorian Public Service staff transferring at level.

Position Details

About us

Lodden Prison is a facility located in central Victoria that accommodates mainly medium security and a small number of minimum security rated male prisoners.

About the role

This multifaceted role encompasses human resource management, including Performance Management, OH&S requirements, E.E.O. legislation responsibilities, staff selection and training requirements and budget monitoring and the management of compliance related issues.

As the Prison Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

  • the service delivery outcomes within your area of responsibility
  • achieving program and service outcomes
  • managing coordinated responses to critical incidents
  • leading and managing staff to maintain a safe environment
  • ensuring compliance with prison procedures
  • developing, implementing, reinforcing and reviewing practice and procedures relating to offender management and security management.

The Prison Supervisor will work to the following roster arrangement:

  • 9 shifts over an 80-hour fortnight consisting of 1 x 12 hour shift and 8 x 8.5 hour shifts.

About you

As the successful candidate, you must have:

  • completed the prison officer pre-service training
  • strong leadership skills along with sound judgement
  • confidence in decision making
  • sound capabilities to coach, mentor and motivate staff
  • highly developed communication, negotiation and problem solving skills.
