  • Ongoing, full-time opportunity to work with a high-perform.ing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service 
  • VPS Grade 2: $60,295 - $77,430 plus superannuation.

About the business unit 

The Barwon Southwest Prison Precinct incorporates four custodial facilities located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne.  The four custodial facilities consist of two maximum security prisons being HM Prison Barwon and Western Plains Correctional Centre and medium security prison Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annexe.  The BSW Prison Services Team provides both operational and administrative services to HMP Barwon, Marngoneet Correctional Centre and the Karreenga Annexe.

About the role 

This entry level role provides stores/warehousing and prison services functions in a secure, high compliance environment. Duties include processing, packing and delivering order requests, sourcing and purchasing stock for replenishment, processing spend requirements for prisoner purchases, maintaining stock controls, compliance and manual handling registers, processing a range of applications, data entry and invoice processing, preparing correspondence to internal and external stakeholders. The role is part of a team operating across multiple locations and requires lifting and other manual handling tasks.

Some of your duties will include: 

  • As part of the Stores team and under general direction, provide high quality business services related to stores and canteen for Barwon, Marngoneet and Karreenga Prisons.
  • Assist in serving prisoners in the Prisoner Shops and updating prisoner records on SPEND and Phone systems.
  • Assist with the ordering and processing of prisoner special spends.

About you 

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • Proficient in the use of software and standard office equipment.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of stores and warehousing operations
  • Demonstrated understanding of stock management, delivery / service requirements and OH&S practices.
