About the role and your responsibilities:  

As Ranger (Fire and Emergency), the primary focus of your position is to plan for, and deliver, in park services as directed by the Ranger Team Leader to enable efficient and effective delivery at a district level in accordance with the Regional and District Action Plans.  You will undertake activities requiring a level of environmental and service expertise and the position will be accountable for personal performance. You will demonstrate a strong personal work ethic and actively participate in a team environment ensuring that the overall success of the team is considered to be an outcome of individual success. You will be adaptable and flexible to on the ground service requirements in order to ensure superior park management services are achieved at all times.

The creation of a separate Fire and Emergency Services Directorate and the new functional fire and emergency teams within regions, recognises the importance that fire and emergency management plays in Parks Victoria's day-to-day business and the potential impacts associated with this program area.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Plant, chainsaw and machinery operation experience and other trade related skills
  • A working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • A current employee Working with Children Check before commencing employment with us

About the branch:

The Operations Division is responsible for the service delivery of initiatives, programs and services. On-ground works and services will conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and improve opportunities and support fire and emergency management. The Regional resources will support environmental, social and economic outcomes for rural, regional and urban communities. Service delivery is managed and delivered within the demands of the Divisional Action Plan and the requirements of the Division's statewide fire and emergency role and in partnership with community and government agencies.
