About Us:

The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, comprising Corrections Victoria, Justice Health and Justice Services, plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.

Corrections Victoria is responsible for the implementation of policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Prison Intelligence Unit (PIU) Supervisor, the Mail Officer supports the PIU to deliver a comprehensive intelligence function via the screening of mail, parcels and property.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Under minimal direction and supervision, providing a range of high quality, confidential and efficient administrative services, and support in relation to mail services within Loddon Prison and Middleton.
  • Undertaking a range of administrative functions including word processing, data input and management and the maintenance of various records, registers, and returns
  • Collecting, processing, and dispatching all prisoner and business mail; ensuring all property received through mail is recorded and processed in a timely manner

About You:

As an ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Well-developed computer literacy.
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations.
  • Advanced computer skills including effective use of various systems such as word processing, spreadsheets, email, appointment scheduling and internet is desirable
