About the role

Reporting to the Executive Director - External Affairs, the Executive Officer provides high level strategic and authoritative advice and support to the Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team for the External Affairs Business Unit. 

Key responsibilities within this senior role include:

  • Coordination of activities across External Affairs on behalf of the Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team and providing support and governance to these activities
  • Management of day to day operations of the Office of the Executive Director encompassing a range of matters and issues
  • Management and oversight of the Executive Director's internal and external communications with key business partners and stakeholders
  • Providing leadership and direct management or support on business planning, budgeting, risk management, change management, business continuity, internal audit or other relevant projects as required
  • Liaison with the Chief Executive's Office and other key Business Units within WorkSafe for media and other high profile issues as appropriate
  • Responsiveness to the needs of the business to support the delivery of a variety of programs and projects within External Affairs

Skills & experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or professional certifications
  • Sound understanding of WorkSafe and its operating framework
  • Ability to be flexible, agile and responsive to the needs of the business
  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build effective working relations
  • Experience working in a transformational/change management environment and working with consultants
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate and present complex issues or messages clearly and simply
  • Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills including the ability to recognise emerging issues of importance
