About the role:
As the Area Chief Ranger for the Lakes and Eastern Alps, you will be accountable for the staff, stakeholders and program delivery across three work centres (Bairnsdale, Buchan Valley, and Omeo). You will support the Team Leaders within your geographic area of management to develop an effective network of communication and to ensure knowledge of business activity is shared and understood.
Your geographical area will include 5 jointly managed parks, managed with the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Corporation, and includes amazing landscapes such as the Mitchell River National Park, Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park, Raymond Island and Lake Tyers State Park.
We're looking for someone with:
- Tertiary qualification in Science, Business and/or equivalent experience in a similar field.
- High level judgement experience in analytical problem solving and decision making.
- Proven experience in multiple portfolio management.
- Effective engagement and stakeholder management skills are essential.
- Extensive experience in leading and managing team performance.

About the branch:
The Eastern region consists of a diverse range of parks and reserves. Staff working within the Region are responsible for providing efficient and effective implementation of a broad range of often complex park management functions including natural, cultural and built asset management, visitor management and services, stakeholder management, park planning and emergency response.
