About the Role

As an Area Chief Ranger, you will lead all operational services and resource management within your designated geographic area, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective services aligned with the District Action Plan.

Reporting to the District Manager, you'll oversee park operations, team performance, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and emergency response coordination. You'll provide guidance to Ranger Team Leaders and act as a key conduit between Parks Victoria and the community, Traditional Owners, and government partners — ensuring local services align with regional and organisational goals.

This is a critical leadership position, combining operational oversight with strategic thinking, people leadership and strong partnership-building.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated high-level judgement and experience in analytical problem solving and decision making
  • Strong experience in managing multiple operational portfolios and service delivery priorities
  • Proven track record in stakeholder and community engagement across complex environments
  • Experience leading high-performing teams and aligning local delivery with broader strategic goals
