About the branch

The Melbourne Division is responsible for the delivery of on-ground works and services that conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and improve opportunities and support fire and emergency management. The Divisional resources will support environmental, social and economic outcomes for Melbourne communities.

‘Parks Victoria is relocating functions from our environment, research and other service divisions to Latrobe Valley by 2020. This position is currently based at 535 Bourke Street office in Melbourne and will be moving to the government services hub planned in Latrobe Valley by 2020.'

About the role and your responsibilities:

As a Ranger Team Leader you will lead a team of staff to deliver high quality services in line with the Regional Operations Plan, with support and under the direction of the Area or Functional Chief Ranger. You will work as a key member of the Area or Functional team in delivering on-ground services. You will be able to demonstrate a strong personal work ethic for team members to follow and ensure that District employees maintain a high standard of personal accountability and compliance with the Code of Conduct. Ranger Team Leaders are responsible for guiding the team, to inspire enthusiasm, to ensure their safety and welfare and to ensure they are appreciated for their efforts. You will also be responsible for ‘hands on' people management which includes leading, managing and developing the team which may include ongoing employees, contractors, casuals, temporary staff and/or volunteers.

To be successful for this role you will need:

  • Demonstrate strong customer service focus both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated flexibility in workload management
  • Displays a practical understanding of strategic issues, risks and opportunities in local decision making
