- VPS Grade 2: $58,539 - $75,175 plus superannuation.
About the Business Unit:
HM Prison Barwon is a maximum-security prison located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne, and is part of the Barwon South West Regional structure. It is Victoria's major maximum-security prison for sentenced male prisoners. The prison officially opened in January 1990 and currently houses up to 416 people in our care, including high security, long term management, protection (including specialist protection), general mainstream (maximum security) and medium security prisoners.
About the Role:
The Property Officer is responsible for the compliant and lawful delivery of prisoner property services. This role will involve processing of property, safe storage and accurate record keeping through our local platforms such as; PIMS and EJustice.
Some of your duties will include:
- Maintaining the daily operations of the Prisoner Property / Clothing store including data input into PIMS and Ejustice while identifying prisoner property held in stores and cell
- Update records as required on acquisition / disposal / transfer of property while ensuring the safe and secure storage of all prisoner property including prisoner valuables
- Make recommendations pertaining to prisoner property and clothing issues.
The role will require the incumbent to liaise with prisoners directly and will involve some bending and lifting.

About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Clerical experience is highly advantageous (preferably in Stores) and an ability to develop and maintain records and systems relating to these administrative functions
- Ability to undertake inquiries and stocktakes, maintain inventories, prepare reports, correspondence and statistical returns
- The ability to co-operate and work well with others in pursuit of team goals while sharing information and acknowledging others' efforts, making sure to step in to help others where required.
