About the role and your responsibilities:  

As the Senior Community Engagement Officer (Fire and Emergency), you will support the Senior Manager, Fire and Emergency to develop and implement communications and engagement programs related to fire and emergency across the Operations Division, primarily in the Melbourne and Marine and Maritime regions. You will lead the development of communication tools and support the delivery of communications for the annual MFEP works program and Joint Fuel Management Planning process which is led by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning. You will lead the development of supporting information, guidelines and communication to assist with the community engagement and promotions specifically related to Fire and Emergency Services. Your role will deliver strong external and internal communications coordination for fire preparedness activities, initial bushfire recovery and emergency management response across Parks Victoria in the Melbourne and Marine and Maritime Regions.

You will ensure effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders, as well as ensuring timely and effective coordination in both planning and during an emergency events such as the bushfire season. You will also provide advice to the Senior leadership team across Melbourne Region.

  • The ability to nurture stakeholder engagement and strong working relationships within complex environments
  • Working knowledge of planning and implementing multifaceted communications and engagement plans for a range of projects
  • Highly proficient writing skills and ability to distil complex information into clear messages

About the branch:

The Operations Division is responsible for the service delivery of initiatives, programs and \services. On-ground works and services will conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and improve opportunities and support fire and emergency management. The Divisional resources will support environmental, social and economic outcomes for rural, regional and urban communities. Service delivery is managed and delivered within the demands of the Divisional Action Plan and the requirements of the Division's Statewide fire and emergency role and in partnership with community and government agencies.
