About MRPV

Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) was established to deliver a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of key road projects across Victoria, including new roads, road widenings, new bridges and major freeway upgrades. MRPV manages complex and strategically important road projects from business case development through to completion connecting local communities and supporting Victoria's growing economy.

The Role

The Civil Engineering Advisor forms part of the Technical Services team within the Engineering division. This role will provide high level civil engineering expertise in the planning, design and delivery stages of high-value and high-risk major road infrastructure projects across MRPV. This position will provide in-house expertise and support to MRPV project delivery teams on complex civil engineering issues in the area of road, drainage, pavement design and construction related issues. The role will also manage and coordinate all engineering input into the project development stages on allocated projects. The Civil Engineering Advisor will also review, manage and continuously improve civil engineering design and construction standards and specification in consultation with DOT and relevant industry stakeholders.

About you

You'll be a self-motivated person who can work in a fast-paced environment managing conflicting priorities with limited guidance. You will have extensive experience in civil engineering planning, design and delivery of complex transport infrastructure projects within a multi-stakeholder environment. You will have extensive experience and technical expertise in civil engineering design and construction of road infrastructure projects, design management, road and pavements design, drainage, and knowledge of integrated water management and hydraulic modelling. Your technical and analytical ability in civil engineering design will be second to none and will allow you to prepare design briefs, review design and tender documentation and mitigate risks through effective problem solving.

You will be a team player with the ability to provide an innovative approach to solutions and your strong negotiation and communication skills will equip you to build strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Ideally, you will have extensive experience in the public and private sector with exposure to various levels of government and significant experience in the preparation of external consultant briefs on civil engineering and road design related issues.

A relevant qualification in an Engineering and/or Science related discipline is mandatory.
