About the role

This role reports to the Director, Corporate Communications and is an exciting opportunity to make your mark by implementing and delivering a consistent communications strategy to promote WorkSafe's transformation to its extensive internal and external stakeholder community.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of the communications strategy for WorkSafe 2030 in conjunction with WorkSafe's change partner, ensuring consistency across all internal and external communications channels.
  • Implementing WorkSafe's stakeholder engagement strategy and plan as it relates to communications.
  • Working collaboratively across the business to ensure the delivery of fully integrated communications processes and consistent messaging.
  • Liaising closely with the Director of Corporate Communications and Chief of Transformation Operations to help deliver WorkSafe's transformation communications in line with WorkSafe's strategic objectives and operational requirements
  • Working collaboratively across Corporate Communications to ensure the delivery of fully integrated communications processes and consistent messaging across the business.
  • Preparation of significant and complex written material for senior leaders for a range of purposes, audiences and objectives.
  • Providing leadership and best practice advice.
  • Identifying and managing reputational issues, risks and opportunities and recommend solutions.

Skills & experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, journalism, marketing, communications or other relevant discipline
  • Strong people skills, and the ability to liaise with senior management and other stakeholders
  • A strong track record of delivering targeted communications in a organisation (or organisations) undergoing significant transformation.
  • Strong organisational skills, including a demonstrated ability to plan and manage resources
  • High-level conceptual and analytical skills, evident business acumen and exceptional verbal and written communication capability
  • Well-developed judgement and problem solving abilities and the ability to show initiative and innovation in the development of solutions and managing issues.
  • Strong ability to engage with senior leaders and executives and provide robust, transparent and sound advice in relation to specific subject matter.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of, and working understanding of all core communication channels including face to face, online, print and digital/new media.
  • Appreciation and understanding of internal political issues within large, complex organisations and a proven ability to build relationships and get the best out of people at all levels.
