Position Details
THE ROLE
The Fleet Supervisor - Central Fleet will lead a small team that manages the vehicle fleet for the state-wide Department of Health (DH) and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH). The role relies heavily upon the sound engagement with stakeholders both internal and external and ensures a sound fleet management service to both departments statewide. The unit is responsible to provide fleet management services to DH and DFFH also delivers statutory obligations such as fringe benefits tax and environmental reporting.
This position reports to the Team Leader – Central Fleet and supports strategic initiatives in line with government wide committments to emmission reduction and cost efficiencies along with key performance metrics including driver safety and accident/incident reduction within the portfolio.
In this role, the incumbent will lead by example and actively contribute towards creating and sustaining a positive and healthy workforce culture built on values of professional excellence, development and teamwork.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Coordinate statewide fleet, maintain corporate information systems and provide advice and assistance to local area staff delivering office-based services within the portfolio. Answer queries, provide timely advice and take follow up action as required
- Effectively manage and lead a team of employees by:
- leading and supporting teams and individuals to achieve their potential and contribution to organisational goals and outcomes
- resolve complex strategic and planning problems and issues being experienced by divisions
- modelling behaviours integral to good people management and departmental values
- manage staff performance through performance management and development processes
- drive workforce capability uplift and education through supporting the development and training of staff and contribute to ongoing continuous improvement by observing and providing feedback to staff on their delivery of functions
- Deliver quality, timely and effective customer service to team leaders, managers, staff within the branch and undertake more complex tasks under direction from the Team Leader
