Position Details

Scheme Performance is at the heart of WorkSafe's strategic and operational management; analysing health and safety, insurance and medical information to provide input to strategies, improvement projects and understanding the operations of a business with a $3bn turnover.  WorkSafe's internal actuarial team allow us to understand the value and manage $12bn of claims on our balance sheet.

Under the banner of "WorkSafe 2030", WorkSafe is seeking to transform our organisation into a prevention led business, focussed on the needs of injured workers and employees and one which acts in an innovative and agile way.  Data Analytics is at the heart of the transformation and over the next few years we see Scheme Performance in the vanguard of developing our analytics.

The incoming Director, Scheme Performance will have a pivotal role; ensuring that our skilled and experienced team of specialists continue to deliver the mission critical analysis to keep our successful organisation operational, and at the same time working with the incoming Chief Data and Analytics Officer as a key contributor to the development and implementation of Worksafe's Data Analytics strategy.

About the role

The Director, Scheme Performance is a key leadership position, responsible for the oversight of the Actuarial Team, the Business Performance Management Team, a Data Governance function and working alongside the WorkSafe 2030 and Innovation teams to implement WorkSafe's Data Analytics strategy. The position plays a key part in providing high level advice to executive and senior management on the organisation's and their business unit's performance; the evaluation and analysis of key strategies, projects, programs and surveys. While managing the actuarial valuation and data research functions, you will offer a collaborative, proactive business partnering focus, to provide clarity and insight to business performance and improvement.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant post graduate qualifications,
  • Significant senior executive experience and understanding of OH&S, Workers Compensation or related insurance businesses
  • A background in professional services, data consulting or analytics in a financial services or retail sector
  • High level strategic development, analytical and decision making capabilities,
  • High level judgement in identifying and managing issues of strategic impact and importance;
  • Demonstrated experience providing change leadership and people management abilities, through a calm, credible and considered approach
  • Proven ability to analyse complex information and develop a relevant and robust business case
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including CEO, Audit Committee and Executive Leadership team.
