  • VPS Grade 2: $56,271 - $72,262 plus superannuation.

About the Business Unit:

Corrections Victoria manages some 50 Community Correctional Services locations across the state and is responsible for managing Victoria's 11 public prisons and overseeing the contracts relating to the management of two privately operated prisons. Corrections Victoria delivers a safe and secure corrections system that actively engages offenders and the community to promote positive behaviour change.

Beechworth Correctional Centre is a minimum-security prison for men, with a focus on preparing offenders for their release back into the community.

About the Role:

The Programs Officer is an integral member of the Beechworth Correctional Centre (BCC) Transition Centre Team and Program Department. 

This position will require direct prisoner contact.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of the Corrections Victoria Reintegration Pathway through the promotion of transition planning and assistance that directly targets the eleven critical intervention domains
  • Liaising and consulting with contracted providers delivering pre- and post-release services and coordinate in-person and remote appointment scheduling
  • Assisting prisoners in engaging in remote service delivery of community assistance referrals.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Experience in Administration duties.
  • Confidence in operating IT systems such as video conferencing, tablet operating systems etc.
  • An understanding the importance of partnering with the customer or community in developing successful strategies, programs or products, supporting the design process by explaining what needs to be done and ensuring people have the necessary information to engage in the process and work effectively; understands stages of co-design.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with an offending history (desirable)
  • Experience in or an understanding of working within a correctional environment (desirable)
