About the role

The Senior Data Warehouse Developer supports the Big Data Platform Lead, and play a key role in the design, development and implementation of PTV's data warehouse and data analytics platform. This includes working as part of an Agile team and leading the development of new warehouse and reporting capability to meet PTV's data gathering and reporting obligations under the new Metropolitan Rail Franchise contracts as well as ensuring integration with existing reporting systems. 

What we're looking for

Essential (must have to be considered for the position)

  • Strong proven experience in Data Warehousing/BI Development
  • Exceptional knowledge of and extensive practical working experience in information and data modelling.
  • Advanced ability to understand complex and technical information and data use in different business and system contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience in Data quality, data cleansing, Data Governance principles, along with Logical Data Modelling.
  • Expert knowledge of data methodologies and data modelling techniques such as Data Vault/ Kimball/ Inmon etc.
  • Development experience in data warehousing and advanced analytics.
  • Strong ability to initiate and recognize opportunities for continuous improvement by identifying inconsistencies in policy interpretation, processes, service provision and systems with the capacity to influence change in information management.
  • Demonstrated experience in data integration development using Microsoft Azure platform in the cloud.
  • Advanced knowledge in SQL queries, stored procedures, physicalized tables and indexes, execution plans to retrieve data from tables, high availability and resilient architecture for large database such as Azure Data Warehouse, SQL Server, SSIS, Data Lake concepts and Big Data concepts.
  • Strong experience in working with large, complex Data Warehouses using the Microsoft BI Stack within an Azure or cloud based environment.
  • Strong experience in scripting such as Powershell and python.

Desirable (will be well suited to role)

  • Prior experience in waterfall and agile methodology
  • Public Transport Domain Knowledge
  • Exposure/prior experience to Microsoft Azure Technology (e.g. Azure Data Warehouse, Azure Data Factory, Powershell, Blob Storage/Azure Data Lake, etc.)

Qualifications (Mandatory)

  • A Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field followed by work experience of data integration design/delivery of solution.
