As a Fire Lookout Observer, your main responsibility is the detection and monitoring of fires to determine location, size, and fire behaviour. You will also participate in activities associated with fire readiness, suppression, planned burning and other emergency response and recovery operations in accordance with one's role, training and accreditation.

If you have experience in the operation of two-way radios and communication equipment, along with safe and effective vehicle driving skills with training and experience in 4WD, defensive driving and minor vehicle maintenance, you are strongly encouraged to apply.

You may be required to operate from various tower locations within a district for both emergency response and planned burning activities. As the role involves working at heights in isolated and remote locations, a high fitness level is required.

This is a casual position available for the 2018-19 fire season. The position will be based in the Mt Terrible Fire Tower located approximately 22km South of Jamieson.
