The Ombudsman provides a free, independent, accessible and impartial service to Victorians. Her role is to ensure that state and local government services are delivered in a fair and reasonable manner that is compatible with the rights protected by the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006. The Ombudsman also investigates allegations of improper conduct referred by the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC).

About the role

We're seeking an intelligent, curious and flexible person who wants to make a difference in the lives of Victorians. As an Investigation Officer you will conduct independent and impartial enquiries and investigations into complaints and other matters about Victorian Government departments and agencies. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to assessing, responding to and resolving complaints, obtaining and analysing evidence and developing investigation plans.

About you

You will be resilient and highly flexible in their approach. You are able to work both autonomously and as part of a team to clear objectives and act fairly by objectively considering all relevant facts and criteria to make decisions and recommendations.  You will understand an organisation's purpose, direction and ways of working and are able to apply this in your day to day work.
