Position Details

We are building an inclusive workplace to help realise the potential of our employees, embrace our differences, and apply our diverse thinking to innovation and delivering services to Victorian communities. All jobs can be worked flexibly and we encourage job applications from Aboriginal people, people with disabilities, young people and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Senior Project Officer to support the implementation of Protecting Victoria's Environment – Biodiversity 2037 and other biodiversity projects through further development of the Strategic Management Prospects (SMP) decision support approach. SMP integrates a range of information to estimate management effectiveness across species, actions and locations, and applies conservation planning principles to identify cost-effective options for biodiversity management across Victoria.  Biodiversity 2037 requires use of this information to improve investment choices and reporting of progress towards targets. The position will work as part of the NaturePrint team to make key improvements in the quality and scope of inputs and analyses based on feedback and targeted data collection.

The successful applicant will have broad experience in identifying biodiversity management needs, demonstrated capability to analyse and interpret these using attribute and spatial datasets, and strong attention to detail.  The position will also be responsible for spatial data management, documentation and quality assurance of processes, and some technical map production associated with the biodiversity decision-support tools. Proven expertise in developing and enhancing fit-for-purpose spatial ecological information products and datasets for use in applied ecological management will be highly desirable.

This is a fixed term – flexible position for a period of 2 years.

To be considered for this position, your application should include a supporting statement demonstrating that you meet the key selection criteria and any job requirements specified in the position description.

Applications close at midnight Sunday on 22 October 2017.
