Department policy stipulates that salary upon commencement is paid at the base of the salary range for the relevant grade. Position Details

  • Ongoing, full-time VPS5 position ($92,253 – $111,619 plus superannuation), North West Metropolitan Area

The North West Metropolitan Area accounts for approximately 1300 staff across 13 sites. These sites are located in either the North or West of the Area and deliver a range of justice services. Located across the North West Metropolitan Area are nine non-custodial locations in Carlton, Broadmeadows, Reservoir, Heidelberg, Greensborough, Melton, Sunshine, Werribee and the Neighbourhood Justice Centre in Collingwood. There are four custodial locations: maximum security prisons Metropolitan Remand Centre, Dame Phyllis Frost Centre and Melbourne Assessment Prison and the minimum security Judy Lazarus Transition Centre.

An ongoing position has become available for an Offender Services Manager at the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) within the Offender Services team. The MRC is a 954 bed maximum-security facility for unsentenced male offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region of the department.

This team, led by the Offender Services Manager, is responsible for prisoner support services together with the development and delivery of a range of personal development programs and specialist services which include, program coordination, chaplaincy, transitional programs, disability services, multi-cultural and indigenous services, youth services and prison volunteers.

As such, the Offender Services Manager will require an understanding of the breadth of this portfolio and be suitably experienced to manage the contractual elements of commercial enterprises and the complexities of dealing with multiple contracts and programs.

The role operates within a complex and dynamic environment and requires the capacity to exercise high-level analytical skills, sound judgment and strong leadership.

Polished communication skills, and the ability to both influence and build collaborative partnerships across multiple portfolios will be critical in this role.

As our ideal candidate, you will be required to demonstrate:

  • experience in the design, development and evaluation of development programs
  • experience in the health / human services field
  • staff management
