Position Details

What You'll Do
This is a pivotal senior leadership role, with broad enterprise influence. As Director IT, you will set the strategic direction for technology across RBGV and lead its practical delivery in a way that strengthens organisational performance over time. Working in close partnership with the Executive and senior leaders, you will ensure technology investment, capability and governance are aligned to organisational priorities and future needs. Your key accountabilities include:  

  • Leading the development and delivery of an enterprise-wide technology strategy that supports long-term organisational objectives
  • Driving a cohesive, organisation-wide approach to digital transformation, improving systems, services and user experience
  • Strengthening cyber security, information governance and resilience across critical platforms
  • Enabling better decision-making through improved use of data, systems integration and emerging technologies
  • Building a high-performing, service-oriented IT function with strong internal capability and a culture of continuous improvement
  • Providing strategic advice on technology investment, risk and future opportunities
  • Overseeing key vendor and partner relationships to ensure value, performance and alignment

You will play a central role in modernising how the organisation operates, ensuring technology enables better outcomes for our staff, visitors, research and operations.

What You'll Bring

You're a contemporary technology leader who can combine strategic thinking with practical delivery. You know how to build trust with executives, uplift internal capability, manage risk and turn business needs into clear and achievable technology priorities. You will demonstrate:

  • Significant senior leadership experience across technology, digital or enterprise systems functions
  • A proven ability to align technology strategy with organisational priorities and deliver measurable outcomes
  • Deep expertise across enterprise systems, cloud environments, cyber security and service delivery
  • Experience leading organisational change, building capability and fostering high-performing teams
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and advise at executive level
  • Commercial acumen in managing vendors, contracts and technology investments

Experience in public sector and/or complex stakeholder environments will be highly regarded. Familiarity with frameworks such as ITIL, ISO 27001, Essential Eight or PRINCE2 is desirable.
