What You'll Do
The Aboriginal Learning Facilitator is based at Melbourne Gardens and works in a team of other Aboriginal and non-Indigenous Learning Facilitators. This position is responsible for developing and facilitating cultural and non-cultural learning programs to school groups focusing on high quality learning outcomes. In addition, the position will contribute to the development and review of First Peoples focused programs and First Peoples representation and cultural safety throughout learning programs. There will also be opportunities to contribute to community and educational initiatives, partnerships and outreach. The Learning and Participation team is an incredibly supportive and collaborative team where great consideration has been given to the onboarding, mentoring and development of the employees. This is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander designated position. The successful candidate must be recognised as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person by their community and be able to develop and maintain strong relationships within the local Aboriginal community and colleagues at both RBGV sites.
What You'll Bring
In this position you will bring your knowledge of local and nationwide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and your ability to deliver high-quality programs to a diverse audience. Ideally you will have a qualification relevant to delivering learning programs in a similar context to RBGV and knowledge of indigenous plants, horticulture and/or conservation – however if you do not possess this but have a real passion for sharing stories and knowledge to diverse audiences then please submit an application. RBGV is committed to developing people that can make a contribution to the team and the community.
