Beyond their physical beauty, the Gardens contribute to global and local biodiversity knowledge, through research, discovery, protection, cultivation and restoration of rare and threatened plant species, both ex-situ and in the bushland, and as the insurance policy for a state's unique flora pre- and post-bushfire recovery. Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria is also the custodian of the $340 million State Botanical Collection (including over 1.5 million preserved plants, algae and fungi), housed within the National Herbarium of Victoria, and is a hub for global plant knowledge, with internationally recognised biodiversity management and conservation research programs. The Gardens is also a steward for irreplaceable preserved plant collections, plant records, seeds and knowledge required for future generations to thrive; and is increasingly known for innovative engagement programs that highlight the role of nature in underpinning individual and community wellbeing, whilst fostering social inclusion for community benefit. It is also dedicated to stimulating conservation action and contributing to climate resilience, lifelong learning and unique memories for all visitors, at every stage of their lives.

About the Role

The Visitor Experience Officer is responsible for providing proactive, responsive, and high-quality service standards for new and high-quality customer service standards for new and existing visitors to Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria. This role ensures visitors receive clear, welcoming information on arrival, and leave having had a positive and safe visitor experience. The role also provides a level of protection for site assets through the enforcement of key RBGV regulations. The incumbent will work 19 hours per week (0.5FTE), ideally over 3-4 days (flexible). You must be available to work Saturdays and/or Sundays, and public holidays.

About You

Positive and self-motivated, the successful applicant will have a strong history of delivering high-quality service to customers in busy environments, responding to queries, managing bookings, cash-handling, generating invoices and ticket sales. You enjoy solving problems, working as part of a team and interacting with customers of all backgrounds. You have experience in point-of-sale systems and can work confidently with computers. You take pride in your work and are now looking to make a genuine contribution to a nationally-recognised organisation. All other key selection criteria can be found in the position description which is located under the attachments heading on the Victorian Government Careers website.
