The incumbent will ensure specimens are curated in line with current herbarium standards, in addition assist the Team Leader Collections Volunteers with quality control of specimens curated by volunteers.

The Curation Assistant is primarily responsible for curating unmounted herbarium specimens in the State Botanical Collection. The incumbent will ensure specimens are curated in line with current herbarium standards, and in addition, assist the Team Leader Collections Volunteers with quality control of specimens curated by volunteers.

Success Profile

  • A degree or diploma in Science or an equivalent qualification, or other relevant equivalent experience as appropriate.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in herbarium procedures and curatorial methods.
  • Sound knowledge of botanical scientific names.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard botanical literature.
  • Demonstrated accuracy and efficiency in undertaking detailed, repetitious tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team work skills, with a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with a diverse range of individuals.
