Position Details

What You'll Do

As a Producer, you will report to the Creative Producer, Special Projects and be responsible for coordinating, planning, and delivering innovative and engaging programs and major events at Melbourne and Cranbourne Gardens. In this role, you will support RBGV's Programming and Audience Development plan by managing onsite production and logistics, including event setup and breakdown, moving infrastructure, supervising contractors, and ensuring risk and emergency management procedures are followed. You'll ensure the successful, timely delivery of RBGV's cultural programming and major events, collaborating with creative partners, suppliers, contractors, internal teams, and volunteers to work on events including Lightscape, Lightfall, Live at the Gardens concerts, small-scale site-specific works, cultural and industry partnerships, and community engagement programs. In addition, you'll seek expertise from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and other colleagues to design and deliver impactful programs.

What You'll Bring

We are seeking a skilled professional with a recognised industry or tertiary qualification in event production or related discipline, along with a min. of five years of experience in producing large-scale events and public programs for diverse audiences. As the ideal candidate, you will have expertise in producing and project managing a range of artistic projects from concept to completion. Expertise in risk management assessment, planning, and practical implementation of event risk management procedures is also essential with a knowledge of plants, sustainability, conservation, humanities, or culture highly desirable. You will have a natural ability to engage with colleagues, partners, and collaborators across various sectors as well as excellent organisational and project management skills. You also have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing improvement of event management processes at RBGV.

The successful candidate will be able to implement fresh, creative, and interactive participation methods to communicate scientific and cultural concepts effectively. The role demands well-developed relationship-building skills, a solutions-focused mindset, sound judgment, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills. Strong budget-management skills, including the ability to create and monitor event budgets, are also necessary
