About the role

The Claims and Recovery Support division has been created within WorkSafe to focus on supporting the recovery and the social and work participation of injured workers. This division will be transforming how we provide support and service to injured workers to improve the outcomes they achieve. As part of this, we will help shape the future Recovery Service Model for the Victorian Workers Compensation scheme.

Our division's focus is on providing a contemporary, person centred approach to partner with our workers to support them achieving their recovery and return to life goals.

As Senior Manager, Performance and Insights, you are a member of the Claims and Recovery Support senior leadership team, who will be instrumental in the shaping of this new team and function within the division.

You will play a lead role in the formation of divisional strategies, measures and operational plans. The Performance and Insights team will include responsibility for performance analysis, quality assurance, compliance and dispute resolution.

You will:

  • Lead the development of performance strategy, intelligence/analytics, quality assurance and reporting to support the ongoing development and success of the Claims and Recovery Support Division.
  • Develop strategies, track and monitor both lead and lag indicators for strong performance relating to experience, outcomes and financial sustainability with the aim of improving the experience and outcomes of our injured workers
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Workers Compensation scheme and the Claims and Recovery Support Division, to effectively drive performance and achieve divisional and scheme objectives
  • Work with the Claims and Recovery Support Team Leaders to provide insight into how the division's performance is tracking month on month, providing insightful commentary on performance, strategies and measures aimed at improving the experience and outcomes of our injured workers.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of WorkSafe's operational and service model as it relates to injured workers with complex and long-term impacts of injury

About you

You are a Senior Manager with excellent communication skills with the ability to discuss highly complex and abstract concepts. You are a team-oriented person with exceptional technical and problem‐solving skills who enjoys leading, delivering and making an impact on your team and stakeholders. You will also have:          

  • Highly developed experience and business acumen leadership in analytical research, strategic planning, results‐oriented delivery and critical decision‐making
  • Sound knowledge of business processes, supporting IT system s (including data warehouses and reporting environments), and demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver strategically aligned solutions and execution of strategies and plans for effective risk and liability management control
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to motivate others and to lead through change
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical documents (Data Models, Solution Architecture, Functional/Non-Functional Requirements etc)
  • An understanding of technologies such as SAS E-Guide & SAS VA


  • Tertiary qualification in a quantitative discipline (eg. Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Economics or Psychology) or equivalent extensive experience (3 years +)
