About Us:
Corrections Victoria's purpose is to deliver an effective corrections system for a safe community. Community Correctional Services (CCS), is overseen by Corrections Victoria, a division of the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
About the Role:
The Recreation Officer is part of the Reintegration Services Team. Reporting to the Reintegration Services Supervisor, the Recreation Officer is responsible for the coordination and delivery of a wide range of recreational programs and activities, both passive and active within the location.
The Recreation Officer works within a team environment to optimise the opportunities for prisoners to enhance their life skills and personal development through all aspects of the day-to-day routines, services, and programs of the facility.
Some of your other duties will include:
- Maintaining recreation equipment and supplies in a manner that is compliant with occupational health and safety standards and the constraints of the public private partnership (PPP).
- Completing compliance documentation and ensure all activities align with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Conducting patrols, searches, and security related activities ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
About You:
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience in and a good understanding of identifying the needs of people experiencing barriers to participation.
- Experience in facilitating/coordinating sporting and recreational activities.
- An understanding of the correctional environment is highly desirable.
Qualifications:
- Certificate III in Fitness or equivalent qualification is desirable.
