An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Project Officer in Justice Health within Corrections Victoria.

About us

Justice Health is the business unit of the Department of Justice & Regulation responsible for the delivery of health services for persons in Victorian prisons. In Victoria, health services to persons in prisons are contracted to health service providers and Justice Health contract manages the health service providers in public prisons.

Justice Health sets the policy and standards for health care in all Victorian prisons and monitors and reviews the performance of health service providers.

Justice Health is also responsible for facilitating an integrated approach to health service planning and service delivery, leading health prevention and promotion activities, and facilitating the release of health information to community health care providers, legal representatives and individuals.

Justice Health works in collaboration with the Department of Health and Human Services and Corrections Victoria to also ensure the effective transition of prisoners back to the community from prison (with particular focus on the health, mental health and AOD needs) and that mental health and alcohol and drug treatment services are provided to offenders on community based orders or parole.

About the role

We are seeking to engage an active and resourceful Senior Project Officer to be responsible for a range of activities to support the commercial and clinical governance activities relating to performance of contracted health service providers in Victorian prisons and Youth Justice facilities. Specific responsibilities include the analysis and reporting of health system performance and development of high quality briefs and reports to senior management on service demands and delivery trends to support policy development and service planning.

The Senior Project Officer will be pivotal in coordinating required activities for health service planning in response to increases in the prison population including activities articulated in contract negotiation plans.

It is expected that the Senior Project Officer will be responsible for the planning, coordination and management of a number of projects specific to the responsibilities of Health Services and Clinical Governance unit in Justice Health including, but not limited to, operational projects that enhance prisoner access to healthcare and responsibility for the coordination of Justice Health's Prisoner Health Experience Surveys.

About you

To be successful you will have:

  • Extensive experience in the preparation of reports and briefs with highly developed conceptual and analytical thinking
  • Proven abilities to plan, monitor and manage significant projects to align with project management methodologies
  • Experience in managing small to medium business projects
